Accessibility
This site is built for people who may not see well, may not tap precisely, and may be reading in a hurry. Here is what that means in practice, and how to tell us when it falls short.
This page is a draft. It is being reviewed before the service opens, and the wording may change.
What this site does
The whole site follows the same rules, on every page and at every screen size.
- No text is smaller than 16 pixels, and the reading size is 18 pixels. Text can be enlarged in the browser without anything breaking.
- Every button and link is at least 48 pixels tall, with space between neighbors, so a tap does not land on the wrong thing.
- Text and background pairs meet the WCAG AA contrast standard.
- Everything works from the keyboard, with a visible focus outline, and the first link on every page skips to the content.
- Headings are in order, navigation and content are marked as such, and images that stand in for photographs carry a description.
- Motion is minimal, with no animation for anyone who has asked their device for less of it.
- The answer page the person receiving check-ins uses is one question and one box, with no login and no small print.
What the messages do
The text messages themselves are plain, short, and free of symbols, so they read correctly on any phone, including phones that read messages aloud.
